Congratulations PCMS Class of 2017
Moving Up was Friday morning 6/23. Here are some memories of the ceremony.
A National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence serving about 1,000 students in grades 6-8, we offer a solid educational and nurturing environment in which learning and the personal growth of each student are given the highest priority. Our students can take advantage of a range of academic experiences including foreign language instruction, physical sciences taught in our unique Planetarium, hands-on experimental science courses in our state-of-the-art science labs, and accelerated English, math and science strands for gifted students. Our rigorous curriculum is supplemented with living history days, school trips to theaters, historic sites and visits to cities such as Washington, DC. We also hold an exchange program with a middle school near Madrid, Spain.
Character education plays a significant role in our school. Our students and faculty have given much time and resources to many successful community service projects.
Finally, most of our students are active in extra-curricular activities, including band and orchestra, drama, choral groups, sports teams, yearbook, school newspaper and other clubs and groups.
Westchester County Department of Health encourages parents/guardians to speak with their health care providers to see what, if any, vaccines are needed for the next school year. For students who are unable to receive vaccines from their healthcare provider, the county Department of Health may be able to offer vaccines. Parents should call the Department at 995-5800 to see if their child is eligible and to schedule an appointment at one of the convenient immunization clinics in either White Plains or Yonkers.
Students in Alison Silverman’s Family and Consumer Science classes at Port Chester Middle School have again won national recognition from the Lead2Feed organization. In total, this year the PCMS students won $11,000 for two charities - ALD Connect and WE Charity - and $6,000 in technology products for Port Chester Middle School. Our students make a difference!
At the June 12 Metro Awards, PCHS's own Taylor Masi won a Metro Award for "featured ensemble member" for her role as Kathy in "9 to 5!". Also nominated were Grace Herbert ("acting performance, female") and Elizabeth Montemurro ("actress in a supporting role").
Congratulations Taylor, Grace and Liz - as well as the entire cast and crew for a wonderful 2017 musical performance!
PCHS is one of only 4 Westchester high schools to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) program to students. Learn more about IB and how this program is increasingly popular with PCHS students by watching this video.

This program starts immediately and is available for students whose families earn up to $100,000 annually beginning in fall 2017. It will extend to families making up to $125,000 annually by 2019. The application is available on June 9.
