Lions Club Poster Contest 2021

PCMS students' art work selected for Lions Club competition

Over the last few weeks, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at Port Chester Middle School had a chance to participate in a global art competition sponsored by the Lions Club, a service club that has chapters all over the globe.

Collaborating with the United Nations, the Lions Club hosts an annual Peace Poster contest for middle school students around the world. Students were asked to come up with their vision of peace and a connected world and were able to use the skills and tools that they had learned over the last 10 weeks to create their posters.

A panel of teachers from Port Chester Middle school selected one winner, Jose Melger Flores, and two runner ups, Chelsea Pasasin and Sofia Abarca. Their work was shown off at the Lions Club virtual meet on Friday, Nov. 12 alongside winners from other districts in the county.

Moving forward, the judges will choose a winner from Westchester County, which will then progress to state, country and global levels. This is an annual event, and students were really able to flex their creative muscles and did some of their best work.
